LeBron James is dropping a new Nike Collection directly inspired by MF DOOM and Madlib’s classic 2004 album, Madvillainy. The new collection includes a hoodie and a t-shirt with Bron wearing a protective mask when he played for the Miami Heat in 2014. The design is called the “Masked Menace,” the design is a reference to the album cover of Madvillainy.
It also features a similar font and a small colored square like the original artwork.
According to COMPLEX, the collection is expected to drop on March 24, the same day as the coinciding LeBron 23 “Masked Menace” sneaker. The collections reference James’ final season with the Heat, during which he was recovering from a broken nose.
Before the start of his 23rd NBA season, Nike announced the launch of the “23” apparel and footwear collection to commemorate the milestone.

“A lot of what we do in Nike Basketball is performance-focused,” Mann, who serves as Lead Footwear PLM with Nike Basketball, explained to Boardroom. “We’re focused on making athletes better day after day, innovating for them. But I think from an emotive side, basketball has always been a cross-section between sport and culture. So, as we look at models like a LeBron XXIII, if you are not a consumer who’s maybe playing on the court and looking for the most responsive foam on their foot, there’s an emotive side to LeBron James. The stories that he’s told, whether they’re inspirational, whether they’re groundbreaking on the court, whether they’re just simply impossible feats, those are the things that I think any consumer can have a natural connection with the game of basketball, too.”
