La La Anthony is working to change the lives of incarcerated young men. The actress/personality and her La La Land Foundation spearhead the “ThreeSixty” program, a program at Rikers Island that provides mentorship and life coaching, legal services and re-entry tools to young men.

The organization’s website says: “We envision a future where confinement does not diminish potential, where development is prioritized over discipline, and every young man is supported in building a better future.”

The team works to develop one-on-one connections with each of the young men. ThreeSixty helps the incarcerated by developing one-on-one connections with each of them. The program works specifically out of Rikers’ Robert N. Davoren (RNDC) Complex. Weekly interactions and meetings focus on life-building skills that are helpful during their time incarcerated and instrumental to re-entry into the community upon release.

During a recent appearance on Sherri, Lala explained the initiative to host Sherri Shepherd.

“ThreeSixty is a program I started about 3 years ago inside Rikers Island for young men ages 18 to 21,” she explained. “It’s a mentorship program. So what we do is, while they're incarcerated, we get them ready for the outside world; whether that’s job-training, mentorship, self-esteem building–anything that they need.”

The 22-year-old Tylik Thomas is one of the program’s success stories.

"It's a good feeling when you can look down, and your ankles aren't cuffed, your wrists aren't cuffed together in the back of those little vans,” he told ABC7 News back in December. “It's a testament, feel me, to all the young brothers my age, my friends I just left today. It's a testament to perseverance, strength, resilience in some of the hardest places.”

He praised the ThreeSixty Program. “I chose to turn my story around, make that 360."

The program is intended to cut down on recidivism by building trust, and solid relationships among the group and strengthening their bonds with each other individually.

“It’s been so successful,” La La adds. “That's what I’m most proud of–seeing these guys change the world the way that they are.”
