Kid Cudi Addresses Relationship with Kanye: "I hit him a week ago"
The two stars have had a famously rocky friendship for the better part of two decades.

Kid Cudi’s fractured relationship with the artist formerly known as Kanye West has been well-documented, but now Cudi is addressing where things stand with his longtime frenemy. He shared an update on his status with Ye during an exchange with a fan on X (formerly Twitter).
“Im sure we will yea,” he said regarding the possibility of working with Ye again “Right now were rebuilding our friendship.”
Cudi said that they’ve even since checked in on each other in recent weeks.
“I hit him a week ago to check in on him, today he hit me to check on me. No work talk,” Cudi added. “Just seeing how I was doing. It was nice."
It marks the second indicator that things could be thawing between Cudi and Ye. Back in April, Cudi gave a shoutout to the controversial star on the Scottsdale, AZ stop of his Rebel Ragers Tour.
“This one’s for Ye,” Cudi said to the audience at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre. “We gotta sing this loud so Ye can hear you.”
Ye’s collaborative history with Cudi, (born Scott Mescudi) goes back 20 years. Cudi signed to Ye’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint and the two worked together frequently before things soured in the 2010s. In early 2024, Cudi said that Ye had sincerely apologized for things he’d said and done.
But as recently as last summer, Cudi said he doubted he could ever be friends with Ye again.
