Keegan-Michael Key Celebrating Jordan Peele's Historic Oscar Win Is BFF Goals

During the 2018 Oscars, Jordan Peele made history as the first black screenwriter to win the Academy Award for an original screenplay for his film Get Out. And aside from Peele, no one was as happy to see him win the award than his friend Keegan-Michael Key.

As documented by film and TV director Ben Winston, upon Peele being announced as the recipient of the award, Key stood up on his chair to celebrate his friend's monumental win.

Later, Key took to Instagram to celebrate Peele's win, captioning his Oscar photos with the following: #OscarsSoPeele

"I think [the win] was perfect," Key said to TMZ after the Oscars. "It was exactly what I thought he would win for. I couldn't be happier for him, my heart overflows for him, he deserves it 100 percent. He's made an important film. It's one thing to make an entertaining film; he's made an important film."

During his acceptance speech Peele revealed that he thought Get Outwould never be made.

"This means so much to me. I stopped writing this movie about 20 times because I thought it was impossible," he said. "I thought it wasn't gonna work, I thought no one would ever make this movie, but I kept coming back to it because I knew if someone let me make this movie, then people would hear it and people would see it."
