Earlier this year, Kamasi Washington debuted his new suite, Harmony of Difference, at The Whitney's Biennial celebration, playing the six-song set against a film by A.G. Rojas, with artwork provided by Washington's sister, Amani.
Today, Washington has revealed that the EP will be released on September 29th via Young Turks in both digital and 12-inch vinyl formats, the latter including a 14-page booklet of artwork and stills from the Whitney-premiered visual component. Along with the new EP, Washington has announced a lengthy touring schedule for the final quarter of 2017, embarking on a 26-date run commencing at Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee on November 7th. The EP follows recent work with Kendrick Lamar, Thundercat, Carlos Nino, Run The Jewels and more.
“My hope is that witnessing the beautiful harmony created by merging different musical melodies will help people realize the beauty in our own differences.”
