Jesse Fischerand Sly5thAvepay homage to the jazz pioneers that very much shaped their musicality today by revamping aHerbie Hancockclassic. Jesse Fischer and Sly5thAve create a house rendition of the funky jazz standard "Chameleon", transforming Herbie Hancock's groovy syncopation into a modern synth-heavy dance tune.
The house rendition is reminiscent of the jazz tune it was derived from, but additions in post-production, effects, and drum programming are testament to the power of contemporary music technology and its progression.
This isn't the first time Jesse Fischer and Sly5thAve have taken to recreating a jazz classic in honor of those musicians that claimed space in the music industry for this genre. In fact, this past November Jesse Fischer and Sly5thAve revamped another Herbie Hancock classic in celebration of Herbie Hancock’s Head Hunters 40 Year Anniversary. Jesse Fischer and Sly5thAve recreated "Watermelon Man", which debuted in 1962 on Herbie's Takin Off record, along with songs like "Sly" and "You'll Know When You Get There" as part of a Herbie Hancock tribute show held in December.
