Just a bit more than a week before he’s set to release his new album, The Fall Off, J. Cole’s pulled up with a new mixtape. Check it out below.

While the drop is a nominal surprise, the signs pointing toward its release have been there for a while now. In the initial sketch planning he shared for The Fall Off years ago, something called "It’s a Boy" preceded The Fall Off. More recently, Jadakiss used an appearance on his and Fat Joe’s Joe & Jada podcast to explain that Cole actually had a mixtape on the way.

“Shout out to J. Cole. He got a project coming out called The Fall-Off and he got a mixtape where he used some of The LOX [beats]. He rhymed over ‘Money, Power & Respect’ and he rhymed over ‘Can I Live,'” Jada explained.

“He killed them shits. Cole is coming back in a major way. When you hear his bars, all [the fallout from him dropping out of Drake and Kendrick Lamar battle] don’t matter,” Jada added. “He’s coming crazy.”

But don’t take Jada’s word for it. Listen to the tape for yourself just below. And also: get ready for The Fall Off
