Ahead of the digital and physical release of his new project, Harmony of Difference, Kamasi Washington has offered a first and only glance at the project for those who missed its mixed media debut at The Whitney's biennial celebration.
Today, he shares "Desire," a heart-swelling four and a half minute suite built out with warm organ beds and flourishes of Washington's simmering horn work. It's available to hear via WeTransfer below. Harmony of Difference will be available as a six-track album, the first five comprising five respective compositions, the final, a conjoined piece that stacks all five on top of each other, a concept Washington hopes "makes people think about what that reality is."
He'll also be prominently featured on Everything is Recorded, the upcoming album from XL Recordings founder, Richard Russell, as well as Ibeyi's sophomore album. Pre-order your copy of Harmony of Difference on vinyl via Young Turks today.
