Canadian punk jazz outfit, BADBADNOTGOOD, has become one of music's most compelling case for strangeness as virtue. Their 2017 hit list alone features marks on Kendrick Lamar's DAMN., Little Simz's Still in Wonderland and Mary J. Blige's Strength of a Woman. They've also shared new music via LateNights mixtape curation and were featured on an outtake from Matt Martians' stellar solo debut Drum Chord Theory alongside frequent collaborator and fellow north-of-the-bornder pioneer, Kaytranada.
Basically your favorite artist's ace in the hole for the last few years and running. Today, they share an increasingly rare piece of their own material with the release of "I Don't Know," a stirring new collaboration with Sam Herring, who graced their critically-acclaimed 2016 album IV. The Future Islands frontman pairs well with the slow-burn of the track, his melodic brood bearing heavily over a soulful, string-laden suite. The track is from their IV sessions, according to an Instagram post from the band.
