De La Soul’s Vinyl Release of Rare ‘Clear Lake Audiotorium’ is Already Sold-Out

The highly sought-after De La Soul EP was originally shared as an exclusive promotional release for select DJs.

Only a day after it was announced, the vinyl release of Clear Lake Audiotorium, the rare 1994 EP from De La Soul, is already sold out on the group’s website.

On Friday, the group shared news that Audiotorium had hit streaming and that vinyl and CD versions of the project were available to purchase on their website.

However, by Saturday, the vinyl version was already sold out, with the page for the item stating, “Sorry Sold out.”

If you are still interested in purchasing though, it seems that copies of the vinyl are available via Amazon and Rough Trade, as well as several international music and entertainment retailers like HMV, Resident and Norman Records.

As it’s described on De La’s website, Clear Lake Audiotorium is the “holy grail of De La Soul albums” and “was released in 1994 exclusively as a promotional item to A-list DJs.”

The release is made up of four tracks from the group’s third album, Buhloone Mindstate, as well as two other tracks: “sh.Fe.Mc's” featuring A Tribe Called Quest, and "Stix & Stonz" featuring Grandmaster Caz, Tito of the Fearless Four, Whipper Whip, LA Sunshine and Superstar.

“While only 500 copies were pressed of the original, this legendary collector's item is now available as a limited edition release,” De La’s website said.

In related news, the remaining members of the beloved hip-hop group, Posdnuos and Maseo, shared that new De La music will come out at some point.

In an interview with The Guardian, the pair spoke at length about the group’s career, as well as Trugoy’s passing and continuing on without him.

The two also offered a promising note on new music, with the article saying that “they say new De La Soul music will come out at some point.”
