Because of the very strict no cell phone rule, there has been very little information about the material covered during the performance. However, early reviews seem to suggest Chappelle had many jokes at the expense of transgender people. This is interesting when you remember that Chappelle was criticized for the number of trans jokes his two Netflix specials, The Age of Spin: Dave Chappelle Live at the Hollywood Palladium and Deep in the Heart of Texas: Live at Austin City Limits, had.

The Washington Blade, a publication centered around the issues of LGBT issues, was backstage during Chappelle's Saturday show that featured Trevor Noah. They were able to interview the legendary comedian for about 15 minutes or so. They asked him about his history of trans jokes and whether he was transphobic.

He said:

“I wouldn’t consider myself that because I’m not even sure what the term means...Do I discriminate against somebody because they’re trans? I would like to think absolutely not...It’s not something that I’m going to say I clearly understand this, that and the other...I’m not an obstructionist of anybody’s lifestyle, as long as it doesn’t hurt me or people I love and I don’t believe that lifestyle does.”

Chappelle's new act features a good amount of trans. Chappelle justifies the jokes by saying that he considers comedy a “reconciliation of paradox.”

“These are true things that shouldn’t be true and I’m certain that in the trans narrative, there is also a lot of paradox...I’m learning like the rest of the population is and now they have a platform. They’re articulating these things and we’re all here... this is news to many of us.”
