‘Wu-Tang: An American Saga’ Will Return for One Final Season

Wu-Tang: An American Saga will get one last opportunity to wrap up the origin story of hip-hop's most iconic group.

Good news: Wu-Tang: An American Saga, the hit Hulu story that tells the origin story of one of hip-hop's most iconic groups, has been renewed for a third season. Now the bad news — the show's third season will be the last.

The news comes a week after the second season wrapped. Spoiler alert time — but the second season of An American Saga wrapped in a bittersweet note, with the rappers from Wu-Tang Clan getting record deals and the RZA (who is played by Ashton Sanders) getting all of the group's records destroyed in a flood. (Something that actually happened; as a result, we lost a classic Inspectah Deck.)

The first two seasons of An American Saga has very much been a crime show. While season one focused on the group coming together and becoming friends, the second season covers the struggle between the streets vs. getting into the music industry.

In an interview with Hypebeast from September, RZA, who is an executive producer on the show, talked about infusing the group's classic debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), into the show.

He told the publication:

"... in episode six, we found a way to go into the creative process of 36 Chambers that I think is going to make the audience fully grasp what Wu-Tang was doing, and why it is what it is. You go into the lyricist’s mind. Like Raekwon, he’ll write his lyrics on anything. you give him a pizza box in the studio, guess what? That pizza box becomes where the rhyme is written and he takes that into the booth. And we reenacted it, but we reenacted it in a way that’s crazy. So that’s beautiful and crazy."
