"I gave y'all 'Trapped in the Closet,' 'Feelin’ on Yo Booty,' 'Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number,' and so many other clues! And this is how you repay me?”

For the first time in a long time, Saturday Night Live's cold open was absolutely Trumpless. Instead, last night's show commenced with a mock-up of R. Kelly's now infamously psychotic interview with Gayle King for CBS.

With Leslie Jones portraying King and Kenan Thompson donning the singer's grey suit, black tie, and occasional dissonance, the duo puts a slightly comedic tinge to a fully terrifying exchange. Jones' King opens the discussion by asking why the singer had chosen to give an interview while awaiting trial, to which Thompson's Kelly replies "My lawyers was telling me no, but my ego was telling me yes."

Jones continues to pry, running through King's inquiries for a noticeably disengaged Thompson, who would sporadically break into "Trapped In The Closet" asides and repeatedly asks to be addressed as "victim." Thompson's Kelly is a particularly paranoid sort, constantly asking about the cameras in the room and why they put no effort into hiding them. The interview comes to a close when Kelly begins mispronouncing King's name as "Jail King" and then asks her to rate how much worse the interview had made things for him. King flatly hits back with "13."
