For $1,000 You Can Bid To Own The Weeknd's "Out Of Time" On A Playable Saw Blade
The Weeknd is releasing his new 'Dawn FM' single "Out of Time" on a limited-edition playable saw blade made in collaboration with MSCHF.
The Weeknd and Brooklyn-art collective MSCHF have linked up for new Dawn FM single "Out of Time." To promote the track, the collaborators are releasing a limited edition 12" version of the single on a playable saw blade.
A press release for the collector's item explains more about the record, which can both be played on a turntable and used as a tool.
"The record grooves are engraved into a copper band via direct metal mastering, which is then inset in the saw blade body," the release reads. "The blade itself is a carbide-tipped 12" combo blade–for both rips and crosscuts–with powdercoated color and graphics."
The release comes just in time for The Weeknd co-headling Coachella on Sunday, April 17th and 24th with Swedish House Mafia. Following Coachella, the Canadian vocalist will embark on his The After Hours Til Dawn global stadium tour with guest Doja Cat.
You also might remember MSCHF for teaming up with Lil Nas X to promote his 2021 track "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" with making 666 pairs of "Satan Shoes" which were actually unofficial Nike Air Max 97s. The Satan-themed shoes were priced at $1,018 each, featured a reference to Bible verse Luke 10:18 and were supposed to contain a drop of human blood.
Nike filed a lawsuit against MSCHF for trademark infringement, false designation of origin, trademark dilution, and common law trademark infringement/unfair competition. The lawsuit resulted in a settlement with Lil Nas X, and the "Satan Shoes" were recalled.
25 units of the "Out of Time" record will be auctioned off, with bids starting at $1,000 here.
