There's less than a month until the Prime Video premiere of Swarm. A full-length trailer for the Donald Glover and Janine Nabers co-created show has arrived, with actress Dominique Fishback portraying Dre, “a young woman obsessed with the world’s biggest pop star who sets off on an unexpected cross-country journey.”
Things get bloody in the comedy-thriller trailer, where Dre obsesses over her favorite artist as a member of the 'Swarm' fanbase. Rounding out the cast is Chloe Bailey as Dre's sister, Marissa, and Snowfall actor, Damson Idris, as Dre's boyfriend. The show also makes Glover's first project under his overall Amazon deal, which includes a Mr. & Mrs. Smith series.
Loosely based off of Beyoncé's BeyHive fanbase, Swarm will debut at the South by Southwest Film & Television Festival as an opening night selection on March 10. In the writers room for the forthcoming show was Malia Obama, eldest daughter of 44th United States President Barack Obama and a Harvard College graduate.
“Dre and Marissa are in their 20s and Malia is in her 20s, so it was really great having someone like her in the room,” Nabers told The Hollywood Reporter. “She’s a very professional person. She’s an incredible writer and artist. We really wanted to give her the opportunity to get her feet wet in TV and see if this is something she wants to continue doing.”
All episodes of Swarm will release to Prime Video on March 17.
