Watch Samuel L. Jackson in Marvel's ‘Secret Invasion’ Trailer
Starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion premieres June 21 on Disney Plus.
Nick Fury is coming for blood in the upcoming Marvel Studios series Secret Invasion. Starring Samuel L. Jackson as Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as his ally Talos, the Kyle Bradstreet-created show premieres June 21 on Disney Plus. The 2-minute trailer shows Fury resurfacing for "one last fight" decades after helping refugees of the Kree-Skrull War find a new homeworld.
"Since you've been gone, things have gotten worse," Talos tells the former S.H.I.E.L.D. director at the beginning of the trailer, which ends Fury’s four-year hiatus from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Last year, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige explained at San Diego Comic-Con that the Secret Invasion plot occurs post-snap, which also establishes the beginning of Phase 5. Marvel has also confirmed that the show takes place in the “present-day MCU.”
Secret Invasion is described as an “espionage thriller,” with Fury partnering with Talos, Everett Ross (Martin Freeman), and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) to stop the Skrull invasion, led by Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir).
"This is a darker show," Smulders told the SDCC audience last July. "We're going to get deeper into the characters. We're going to see them in new ways, and it's going to be an exciting thriller, and you're never going to know who people are. Are they a Skrull? Are they a human? It's going to be a bit of a guessing game."
Here’s the synopsis: “Set in the present day MCU, Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity."
