
Pantone Unveils "Love Symbol #2," a Custom Purple Inspired by Prince
Though it, sadly, never made the trip, Prince's purple Yamaha piano has been tapped as a source for a new color inspired by the late icon.

According to Billboard, Pantone, an industry standard for all things color, has unveiled their latest shade, "Love Symbol #2," a deep purple fitting of the electric entertainer, who'd regularly ensconced himself and many associated items in the royal hue. The color was developed in partnership with The Prince Estate, which has only just named its heirs in the last few months (over a year since his death) and released the first posthumous album back in June with the arrival of an expanded deluxe edition of Purple Rain, featuring rehearsal tapes and demos galore.

The Yamaha piano behind the color was slated to join Prince on his Piano and a Microphone solo tour in 2016. Currently, it resides at the Paisley Park estate and museum. Peep the new shade down below.
