Masked domestic terrorists are the supervillains in the HBO series' official trailer.

HBO's Watchmen series is shaping up to be precisely as dark as we'd expect any extension of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' beloved graphic novel would be.

Following a Comic-Con teaser released last month, the not-just-TV network has shared the show's official trailer, revealing the dystopian post-novel aftermath. In the trailer, Regina King's Angela Abar chases after the organizers of a shadowy domestic terrorism group called "The Seventh Cavalry" that is presumably targeting police officers, who now wear Rorschach-ish masks of their own as a line of defense and anonymity. Still no sightings of the naked blue guy or any of the characters from Moore and Gibbons' source text. But all in due time, I guess (?)
