Watch the Trailer for Upcoming Netflix Stand-Up 'My Name Is Mo'Nique'

Oscar-winning actress and comedian Mo'Nique will star in an upcoming Netflix stand-up special, which premieres on April 4.

Nine months after mending her differences with Netflix, Mo'Nique is coming to the streamer with a new comedy special. On Thursday (March 23), a 90-second trailer for the actress and comedian's upcoming stand-up, My Name Is Mo'Nique, premiered. The pre-recorded event is a continuation of Mo'Nique, legal name Mo'Nique Hicks, returning to screens after being "blackballed" in a 13-year feud with filmmaker Lee Daniels and talk show host, multimedia producer and entrepreneur, Oprah Winfrey.

In 2021, Hicks starred in the first season of Starz show BMF, her first television appearance in five years. This year, she'll star in BET Plus horror film The Reading, followed by Netflix horror thriller The Deliverance, directed by Daniels.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hicks spoke about her reconciliation with Daniels, and spoke about her previous Netflix legal rift.

“We sat down with our attorneys, they had their attorneys, you go to mediation, and we were able to come up with something that everybody was good with," Hicks told THR. "I think when adults come together in the room and sit down and have a reasonable conversation and a logical conversation, you work things out.”

“Mo’Nique is an incredible talent who has proven herself across TV and film, winning well-deserved acclaim for projects spanning genres from comedy to drama,” added Tracey Pakosta, Netflix vp comedy series. “She’s built a loyal audience over the years, and we think her fans will love these new Netflix projects.”
