Netflix Previews Select 2023 Movies in New Trailer

In a 3-minute preview, Netflix has announced their 2023 movie slate, including films with Kevin Hart, Angela Basset and more.

Netflix is kicking off 2023 with a bang. On Wednesday (January 18), the streaming service released a 3-minute promo spot highlighting their upcoming features with A-list stars including Kevin Hart (Lift), Eddie Murphy (You People), Jamie Foxx (They Cloned Tyrone), Idris Elba (Luther: The Final Sun), Angela Bassett (Damsel) and more.

Starting the year is You People, which reintroduces Murphy along with co-stars Jonah Hill, Nia Long, Lauren London, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny. Directed by Kenya Barris, the comedy will premiere on January 27. Also in Q1 of the year, Idris Elba reprises his role as Detective John Luther in Luther: The Fallen Sun, which premiere on March 10. The Jamie Payne-directed film also stars Cynthia Ervo, Andy Serkis and others.

Chris Hemsworth’s long-awaited Extraction 2 will premiere on June 10, nearly three years after its inaugural film released in 2020. Also expected in the second half of the year is Jamie Foxx's delayed sci-fi comedy They Cloned Tyrone, co-starring John Boyega and Teyonah Parris.

Other new Netflix movies scheduled to debut in 2023 are fantasy film Damsel with Angela Bassett and Millie Bobby Brown (October 13), action film The Mother with Jennifer Lopez (May 12), psychological thriller Leave the World Behind starring Mahershala Ali and Herrold (December 8), and biographical drama Rustin with Colman Domingo, Chris Rock, Glynn Turman, Audra McDonald and more. Emmy Award-winner Domingo portrays Civil Rights activist Bayard Rustin in the upcoming feature directed by George C. Wolfe.
