"Before we ask of other ethnicities to do us right we should do us as black people better."

Mase has called out Diddy for conducting bad business on his behalf while he was signed to Bad Boy Records, he also asks for the rights to his publishing.

In a new Instagram post, the rapper shares that he heard Diddy’s recent Pre-Grammys speech in which he declared “Hip-hop has never been respected by the Grammys.” Shifting the narrative a bit, Mase writes that he is aware that Diddy is now “for the artist” and “about how the artist must take back control.”

He then shares:

“Before we ask of other ethnicities to do us right we should do us as black people better. Especially the creators. I heard [you] loud and clear when u said that u are now for the artist and to do that my response is if [you] want to see [a] change you can make a change today by starting with yourself. Your past business practices knowingly has continued purposely starved your artist that helped u obtain that Icon Award on the iconic BadBoy label.”

When referencing a past experience with Diddy, Mase wrote the mogul still has ownership of his publishing from 24 years ago which he allegedly only received $20,000 for. “Which makes me want to work with [you] as an artist [no one would] after [you] know someone is robbing you and tarnishing your name when [you] don’t want to comply with his horrendous business model.”

As if this wasn’t enough, Mase shares that he feels he was forced to perform to not appear crazy when he was getting paid “peanuts and the robbery would continue.” He also mentions that he rode hard for Diddy and the mogul still didn’t fix any of the issues he was experiencing.

Later in the caption, Mase writes that he wanted to wait until he was financially stable to ensure he was addressing this issue from “a pure place and not out of spite.” He goes on to note that Diddy is declaring “black excellence and love” but this is a false message.

Mase allegedly details that he offered Diddy 2 million in cash a few days ago to sell him back his publishing. To which the titan responded if he can match what a European can offer that would be the only way he’d get it back. The only other option is that he would have to wait until he’s 50 years old and it will revert back to him from when he was 19.

He concluded the caption by sharing: “This is not black excellence at all. When your own rase is enslaving us. If it’s about us owning, it can’t be about us owning each other.”
