A Documentary About the 2008 U.S. Olympic Men's Basketball Team is Coming to Netflix

NBA legends LeBron James and Dwayne Wade are executive producers on forthcoming Netflix documentary The Redeem Team.

In partnership with the International Olympic Committee, LeBron James and Dwayne Wade are taking their 2008 U.S. Olympic Men’s Basketball victory to Netflix. The forthcoming documentary, The Redeem Team, will chronicle the team's 2008 Olympics win four years after finishing third place in Athens. Led by James, Wade, and the late Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, Jason Kidd and Carmelo Anthony, the U.S. Olympic Men's Basketball team boasted an 8-0 record by the 2008 Olympics end, being dubbed the "Redeem Team."

The Redeem Team represents the very best of what the Olympics are all about,” said Olympic Channel Services GM, Mark Parkman per Deadline. “This film will bring viewers directly inside that team and the Olympic Games Beijing 2008 by showcasing the personality and dynamics of a special group of superstars who came together as one to reclaim basketball supremacy on the biggest stage in sports.”

“In 2008, I played with heroes of mine, all stars, friends and future teammates. Outside of winning and showing the world that we were still the most dominant, our other big challenge was changing the perception of what everyone thought about the NBA and USA Basketball!” added Wade. “I’m excited for everyone to get an opportunity to go behind the scenes and see all the work that went into this iconic team.”

The Redeem Team is directed by Jon Weinbach, also a producer on 2020 Netflix sports documentary series, The Last Dance. The movie slated to premiere globally on October 7.
