Janelle Monáe Cast in Disney's Live-Action 'Lady And The Tramp' Remake
The Electric Lady will lend her voice to Disney’s latest live-action redux.
Janelle Monáe‘s IMDB page is getting longer by the day.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Monáe is joining the cast of Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of the 1955 animated film, Lady And The Tramp. She’ll voice the sassy pound dog, “Peg,” alongside Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux as the titular canine leads.
The casting follows recent roles in the critically-acclaimed Hidden Figures and Moonlight, nominated for eight Academy Awards in 2017 and winner of “Best Picture” for the year. Monáe will also star in an upcoming Harriet Tubman biopic, directed by Kasi Lemmons.
The film roles aren’t keeping her from the road, though. Last week she performed at The Global Citizen Festival on the latest stop of the tour in support of her new album, Dirty Computer. The marathon continues throughout the month of October with upcoming dates in Austin, Memphis, Kansas City, and New Orleans.
