Chris Rock on Will Smith’s Apology Video: “Fuck Your Hostage Video”

For the first time, Chris Rock addressed Will Smith's YouTube apology video.

Chris Rock is using his European tour with Dave Chappelle to address the infamous Oscars slap. Rock took the stage at London's O2 Arena over the weekend and dedicated the beginning of his set to addressing Will Smith's viral Youtube apology, which the actor released in July

“Fuck your hostage video," the comedian said about the video. Rock went on to talk about the slap, saying, “Yes that shit hurt. He played Ali. I can’t even play Floyd Mayweather.” Rock also called Smith, “Suge Smith” comparing the actor to Suge Knight, the notorious founder of Death Row Records, who is currently serving a 28-year prison sentence for vehicular manslaughter.

To close the night, Chappelle, who was also attacked on stage in May, said that if it was Smith that slapped him, he would not have enjoyed the rest of his night. He added Smith’s 30 year persona of perfection in Hollywood is hopefully over for good,

“Whatever the consequences are… I hope he doesn’t put his mask back on again and lets his real face breathe.”

Rock has not stopped talking about the Smith incident since it happened. A couple of weeks ago, he revealed that the Academy asked him to host the Oscars next year. He turned the gig down, saying it would be like Nicole Brown Simpson going “back to the restaurant where she left her eyeglasses before being killed.” (A joke the family did not appreciate.)

Chapelle and Rock’s European tour ends September 12th, with their return to America happening on September 16th.
