Chris Rock Compares His Upcoming Movie With Dave Chappelle And Adam Sandler To Dr. Dre's 'Detox'

Chris Rock first shared news of the film last year.

Since announcing a script he's working on for a film that'll star himself, Dave Chappelle, and Adam Sandler last year, Chris Rock has been pretty mum on the project with his focus on the recently-released Spiral movie he executive produced and stars in. But the actor and comedian did speak on the film in a recent interview with Ebro.

Appearing on his Apple Music show, Rock mentioned the Chappelle and Sandler project after Ebro asked him if there were any other movies he was working on.

"There's this movie, the holy grail with me, Dave [Chappelle], and [Adam] Sandler that I'm working on," he said, before then comparing the film to the long-awaited Detox album from Dr. Dre. "That’s the holy grail. That’s the Detox album we’ve been waiting for it. You know what I mean? It’s like, is Detox ever coming out?" he said.

Rock revealed that he was working on the script for the film last year, but didn't offer many details on it except that it would be starring him, Chappelle, and Sandler. For now, Rock is focused on Spiral, the latest installment in the Saw film series. In his interview with Ebro, he also discussed how Samuel L. Jackson ended up being a part of the movie.

"A lot of people are like, 'Oh man, I can’t believe Sam did you this favor.' I’m like, 'Yo man, Sam don’t do no favors,'" Rock said. "You got a check? Sam will read your script. But the offer got to be there just for him to read it. He ain’t reading it out of speculation. Sam don’t play, Sam get his dough. So we got Sam's dough right, and then we sent him the script."
