In only three weeks, Bohemian Rhapsody, the Queen biopic, has reached a milestone. The film, which stars Rami Malek, reached second place on the list of all-time highest-grossing music biopics. After pocketing $15 million at the box office this weekend (November 16-18) the film has now grossed a total of $127 million.
The NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton, currently holds the number one spot with $161 million domestically. The Johnny Cash biopic Walk theLine, which earned $119 million domestically, is now third on the list. (The 2005 film was the top-grossing biopic on Box Office Mojo's list for a decade before Straight Outta Compton snatched the spot.)
Worldwide, Bohemian Rhapsody has so far made $256 million pushing its total box office earnings to $384 million. The biopic’s production budget was $52 million.
