'Continue To Be Great': Kendrick Lamar Gives Thanks To 'Black Panther' Soundtrack Collaborators

Following the release of the Black Panther soundtrack, Kendrick Lamar has taken to Twitter to thank the collaborators that were a part of the project.

"Respect to all the artist/producers that allowed me to execute a sound for the soundtrack. The concept of producing and composing a project other than my own has always been ideal," Lamar wrote. "I appreciate the experience love ones. Continue to be great."

Executive produced byLamar and his TDE team, the 14-track album includes appearances from ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, and Ab-Soul, as well as James Blake, SOB X RBE, Vince Staples, Khalid, Swae Lee, Jorja Smith, The Weeknd, and others.

Initially, Lamar wasn't going to curate the soundtrack. In a recent interview with NPR, Black Panther director Ryan Coogler revealed that the DAMN. rapper was just going to contribute a few tracks.

"At first, he was just going to do a few songs for the film, and then he came in and watched quite a bit of the movie, and the next thing I know, they were booking a studio and they were going at it," Coogler said to NPR.

Recently, it was reported that Lamar was planning on banning the use of cellphones during his live performances.

Upon embarking on his European tour last week Lamar has since banned phones from being used during his shows. He's also not permitting professional photographers into venues for this tour as well.

As the Guardian notes, the move is to protect Lamar's "valuable 'brand' and ensure the appetite for tickets remains keen," since artists make a majority of their money on tour.
