Okayplayer Presents Big Boi & Kari Faux At the Brooklyn Bowl Next Week

On May 30, Okayplayer will present a special engagement with rap veteran Big Boi and Arkansas-raised rapper-singer Kari Faux at the Brooklyn Bowl.

Big Boi and Kari Faux are bringing their southern flair to the East Coast. As part of his North American tour, Big Boi, born Antwon Patton Sr., will be performing at the Brooklyn Bowl on May 30th, with the event also presented by Okayplayer. Following the special engagement, the Outkast member will have additional performances in Washington D.C., Chattanooga during the Riverbend Music Festival, Anchorage during the Sundown Solstice Festival, and more shows before wrapping up on the inaugural Rock the Bells Cruise.

Although Patton’s last solo album, Boomiverse, was released in 2017, the 48-year-old dropped the collaborative album The Big Sleepover with R&B vocalist Sleepy Brown in 2021.

On Thursday (May 25), Patton and fellow Outkast member André 3000 will be honored at the Atlanta Braves vs. Philadelphia Phillies game at Truist Park, where 15,000 in attendance will score an Outkast bobblehead. The figure shows the duo wearing Braves gear and riding in a red convertible. Patton will also be present to throw out the first pitch for tonight’s game.

Additionally, Truist Park will host an ‘ATLiens Diner,’ offering soul food dishes based on Outkast lyrics, like Patty Melts (“So Fresh, So Clean”), Fried Fish and Grits (“ATLiens”) and Yams with Extra Syrup (“SpottieOttieDopalicious”). The immersive Outkast experience will also feature Outkast-inspired art wall and music from the duo playing throughout the ballpark.

Faux, who will be supporting Patton for a string of tour dates, releases her new LP Real B*tches Don’t Die! on Friday (May 26). Primarily produced by Faux’s partner Phoelix, the album has guest appearances from Big K.R.I.T., Jazz Cartier, Devin the Dude, TheMIND, and the late Gangsta Boo.
