The New York Knicks are back in the Eastern Conference finals after defeating the Philadelphia 76ers 144-114 to sweep them out of the NBA’s Eastern Conference semifinals. The Knicks tied an NBA postseason record with 11 3-pointers in the first quarter in front of a crowd rooting for the road team. The big game drew major reactions from NYC stars online.
“I seriously think the @sixers would beat Detroit and Cleveland,” Chuck D posted. “But they ran into a team that just found the code.” Cam’ron had spoken ill of the Knicks chances, but he and Mase even called up Knicks fan and Stephen A. Smith’s nephew Josh Smith, who is Stephen A. Smith’s nephew, after the sweep.
There was such a heavy Knicks fan presence in Philadelphia that Knicks forward Josh Hart took a shot right at the heart of Philadelphia fans in the aftermath of the blowout win.
"I used to think Philly was a sports town. I don't know if it is anymore," Hart said, according to ESPN. "Everybody was begging for Philly [fans] not to sell their tickets. It never felt like a road game."
The Knicks advance to the East finals for the second season in a row, where they will play the winner of the Cleveland-Detroit series. From Cam’ron to Mayor Mamdani, you can check out some reactions to the sweep below.
