For nearly three and half years, the residents of Flint, Michigan have suffered one of the gravest water supply contaminations in the nation's history. Since the Flint River's transition to the city's main water source, over 100,000 residents have been exposed to life-threatening lead levels.
Activists and entertainers have taken up the cause by donating to the city crisis fund. Over the weekend, during a stop a Michigan stop on his 24k Magic tour, Bruno Mars announced that he and Live Nation had joined forces to donate of $1 million from the show's proceeds to The Community Foundation of Greater Flint, an organization that " enables people with philanthropic interests to easily and effectively support the issues they care about." He joins Big Sean and Dave Chappelle as recent donors, while Jill Scott and Queen Latifah are slated to bring attention to the cause in an upcoming film.
