30 years ago The Beastie Boys came on the scene with an unlikely win. Three white dudes from around the boroughs signed to a hip-hop label still in its infancy, making steel-toed rap records with a crazy-haired visionary out of his college dorm room, all culminating in their now classic debut Licensed To Ill. It's a record that, due to its heavy leaning on samples (almost 100 in total) would be impossible to make today. So why bother.
Instead, let's celebrate the record that formally introduced us to Mike D, Ad-Rock and MCA (RIP.) Dropping October 14th, Licensed To Ill will see a heavy 180 gram vinyl reissue, toasting to 30 years of rotations. And the only place you can get it, for now, is our very shop.
