Nicki Minaj Releases Two New Freestyles and Hints at 5th Album

A new Nicki album might be on the way.

Nicki Minaj returned to airwaves with two new freestyles, "Barbie Drip" and "Barbie Goin Bad."

The artist released the tracks on Saturday (Feb. 2) on episode 11 of her Beats 1 Apple Music show, Queen Radio, featuring special guest Soulja Boy.

"Barbie Goin Bad," is Nicki's version of Meek Mill and Drake’s collaboration “Going Bad.” In the track's outro, she hints that the new project is completed and her label is asking for a lead single, saying, “The label hit me said they want the fifth thing-thing,” she says. “I got in the studio, I did the fifth thing-thing. And then they say, you know, it’s time to drop your single. I said no! You know radio already tried to blackball a bitch.”

Before playing "Barbie Drip," in which Minaj raps over Gunna and Lil Baby's hit, "Drip Too Hard," she cosigns the buzzing Atlanta rapper, saying, "You know who I’m really feeling? Lil Baby... I have to give him props for that. I love his voice."

She also shouted out Bronx emcee Maliibu Miitch and UK rapper Ms. Banks.

Being that she dropped two freestyles and announced two more would be released next week, when asked if she'd be releasing a mixtape any time soon she said, "you knew anything, you know Nicki never tells what she’s doing when it comes to street shit. We’ll see."

During a sitdown with Soulja Boy, Nicki commended him for speaking out on his artistry and influence, referring to his now infamous Breakfast Club interview.

At one point she says, "I’ve been noticing there’s always so much fun and love and sportsmanship in hip-hop but when it’s Nicki, I’m labeled an angry black lady. I love rap, I love hip-hop."

"I want to say that if I was to go on a radio station and say the things you said, I would be labeled as angry. If I said bitches copied my formula…" She continued, "Artists are no longer themselves. I remember artists were so carefree and fun and they’d leave comments, and now everyone is politically correct. They just want to make sure they're not getting dissed on the blogs. Thank you for saying what you want to say. It’s never time for a black woman to say what she feel. That goes to back in the day. You’re a likable guy. You always have been."
