MICK - #NY98

MICK travels back in time to explore the sound of New York City circa 1998 with the MICK x #NY98 mix.

1998 was an epic moment for hip-hop. Arguably, with so many timeless classics, it was the last great year for the reign of NYC. Jay Z, The Lox, DMX, Wu, Big Pun, Gang Starr, Canibus, Flipmode, Lauryn Hill, Def Squad, Tribe, Black Star, NORE, Lyricist Lounge, AZ, Pete Rock, Cam’ron and so many more. Everything went south after that (pun intended), so I present to you #NY98. All your faves (and my faves, which may be different from your faves) from the five boroughs mixed up into one long-ass mix. Underground, mixtape, radio, and club… all rolled into one.

Soulful beats from Evil Ed and Children Of Zeus. Broken Beat from Phuturistix (a Zed Bias alias), Xtra Brux and Hint remixing Diesler. Drum & Bass from Mija, Chug remixing Rhi, Inja & Pete Cannon and a dancefloor dynamite dubplate by Demolition Man. Plus plenty more musical treats.

DJ Rashad Hayes - Sunrise Sunset

Rashad Hayes digs into the archive to revisit the first chapter of a chillwave set entitled Sunrise/Sunset (Side A).

Throwback mix from my vaults. I forgot how dope this mix was. Chilled out vibes from Cudi, J. Viewz, Sufjan Stevens, Flying Lotus, Suzi Analogue & many others. Chill & put one in the air to this mix. 40 minutes of Bliss.
