Fresh from all things good kid, m.A.A.d city, Mixtape Monday gets back to basics with a mixed bag of sets, projects and beat tapes from an assortment of dope individuals.

DMV spitter IDK kicks things off with the IWASVERYBAD soundtrack for Adult Swim. Bahamadia follows with the second installment of her mobile phone beat tape series entitled Dialed Up 2.

Ras G drops his kind of blues and Frank Nitt joins Uneek to dig Dolemite on The Streaker. Ohbliv is back in the habit with Lewse Joints VI and Green Lantern joins Conway to put on for Upstate New York on More Steroids. Kieran Meadows rounds things out with a timely soundtrack for cuffing season.

IDK - IWASVERYBAD

DMV spitter IDK steps out swinging on his 11-track Adult Swim collaborative project IWASVERYBAD. Channeling Kanye in his prime and populating the tape with slappers, IDK makes it clear by the end of the first track that he is definitely with the smoke. Frank Nitt teams with producer Uneek to dig the legendary blaxploitation icon Dolemite aka Rudy Ray Moore on The Streaker. The project comprised of samples and concepts pulled directly from Dolemite’s comedy routines features appearances from Frank Nitt’s partner Dank, Illa J, T3 and Botni Applebum. Conway x DJ Green Lantern - More Steroids

Conway and Green Lantern join forces to drop a heaping helping of fishscale rap on the More Steroids tape. The 43-minute tape from the Griselda Records representative follows a bang-up performance during the 2017 BET cypher and features production from Green Lantern, Alchemist, Statik Selektah, Daringer and Boodeini.

Atlantan hip-hop, soul and experimental hybrid Naja teams with Bermuda producer Nucents on the 7-track Press Release EP. The self-proclaimed offspring of Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill, Naja is a mutant contemporary of mystical duo OSHUN. Bahamadia - Dialed Up 2

Bridging the gap between handheld technology and beat tape culture, Bahamadia drops the second installment of her mobile phone only Dialed Up series. Handling production on the 12-minute tape, Bahamadia calls in a deep bench of MC friends to handle the rhymes. Dave Ghetto, Rasco, Kev Brown, Fat Nice and Geechi Suede are just a few of the folks putting in work on this release.

Ohbliv - Lewse Joints VI

Ohbliv returns with a Cassette Store Day exclusive full of archival loosies entitled Lewse Joints IV.

About two years ago I set up an alternate Bandcamp under the alias Bradford Thomas. Which was an alias I used to put out beats based on my early beat tapes of pause loops and raw sketches. I deleted that page but this tape is a representation of that raw sound. Big shout to Biz Markie’s 'I Need A Haircut' which was a inspiration.

DJ Rashad Hayes teams with lifestyle brand Bevel to present the Gold Vol. 1 beat tape.

My very first beat tape of my original production. Bevel Presents: Rashad Hayes "Gold: Vol. 1". This is my first volume in an ongoing culture campaign with Walker and Company, the company behind Bevel and now FORM. The brand represents Black ownership & creativity in making health and beauty simple for people of color. I immediately jumped at the opportunity of creating music for the Bevel brand, which aims to authentically serve us while delivering top-notch products, easy functionality & amazing aesthetics. Gold Vol. 1 explores the concept of forward progress while also keeping true to the core values of the Black experience through. It's the perfect marriage of hip-hop and ultimately, legacy.
