Producers take center stage for this week's Mixtape Monday, as we have tapes from lo-fi gawds such as 14KT, MXXWLL, Buuda and more.

Don't worry, Mixtape Monday fans, we haven't ignored the handful of rappers who also contribute significant heat to the lineup this week. We have bars upon bars from Frank Waln, who spits his heart out on behalf of the Lakota Nation on The Bridge. Meanwhile, the ATL duo, Civil Writes, keeps our ears to the streets on Fake NewsJizzy Blanco follows suit with a bass-drenched ode to "the life" in Memphis, as Infinito 2017 sews things up with a clinic in rhyme-logy that uplifts the listeners with his deliberately dedicated-to-the-real sound.

Jay Alpha - Life Cycles

Brooklyn producer and analog aficionado Jay Alpha serves up eleven tracks of his glitchy, lofi sound on Life Cycles. The beat tape is a soulful journey through head nodding cadences and soulful melodies that are both fresh and nostalgic. Life Cycles follows in the footsteps of J Dilla, Flying Lotus, Madlib and Parliament with a funky backbone, boom-bap sensibilities and futuristic sounds.

Yamin Semali - The Saturday Sunday Remixes

Atlanta veteran Yamin Semali shines with his take on Monday/Friday's self-titled debut album, entitled The Saturday Sunday Remixes. Yamin pulls double duty as MC and producer for the duration of the colorful 12-track release, which is in the rarefied class of projects that play from front to back with no skips.

Frank Waln - The Bridge

Indigenous spitter Frank Waln represents for the Sicangu Lakota nation on The Bridge. The 10-track project is a testament to personal transformation and the truth of North America’s indigenous history that positions Waln as a healer whose words are only fortified by raw emotion and fiery beats.

Pink Siifu x Ahwlee - BRWN

Pink Siifu and Ahwlee team on the 10-track collaborative project BRWN. The soulful, love-filled venture mixed by SWARVY also boasts appearances from Vida Jafari, Nanna B and Akeema Zane.

MXXWLL - Beats Vol. 1

Sydney producer MXXWLL follows a string of expertly produced loosies with his highly-anticipated debut entitled Beats Vol. 1. The effervescent 21-track release is a hefty collection of joints that showcases his deft hand behind the boards and doubles as a clinic in synth based production. It is also likely to be one of the best things you hear this year.

Civil Writes - Fake News

ATL duo Civil Writes represent lovely for Zone 6 with their latest effort entitled Fake News. The 6-track EP produced by Channel 6 is a love letter to the city of Atlanta that conjures old haunts and nods to new movements. MC’s Draft and Sean combine real life rap and East Atlanta history lessons with trap, soul and syrupy bass. Together, these elements make the project sing.

RSXGLD - He’s The Driver, I'm The Shooter

14KT and Ro Spit burn rubber on the 14-track He’s The Driver, I’m The Shooter collaborative project. The pair put on for Michigan with a comprehensive collection of solid joints that showcase a producer and MC in their prime.

"He's The Driver, I'm The Shooter", is an introduction to the collaborative works of rapper RoSpit and producer 14KT, collectively known as RSXGLD. This mixtape is an audio timeline of the music the two have created together over the years - leading up to the highly anticipated debut group album, releasing later this year on Fat Beats Records.

Jizzy Blanco - O*G*O*E*

Self-made OG and prolific spitter Jizzy Blanco represents for Memphis with his latest release, O*G*O*E*. The project boasts beats that are just as compelling as Blanco’s bars, which he delivers with ease. Channeling slab music, gangsta rap and golden era boom-bap, O*G*O*E* is a release constructed to test systems. It also hints at Blanco’s capacity for dropping a certified classic.

Infinito 2017 - Praying With My Legs

Chicago representative and Culture Power45 alum Infinito 2017 drops a clinic on activism with the 10-track Praying With My Legs tape. Chanting down colonial powers and planting the seeds of uplift, Infinito rocks over disjointed samples, found sounds and off-kilter rhythms that mirror the urgency of his words.

Buuda - Box Tea

New Zealand producer Buuda digs choice samples across the 10-track Box Tea instrumental tape. Taking a page from the book of DOOM, each track is named for a particular flavor of tea. The tape itself is full of Buuda’s reworks of atmospheric jazz samples.

Been awhile since I last touched on some beats for y'all, so before I go off on my second and last round of travels for awhile I present to you Box Tea.
