Hear Miguel's Swaggering New Single "Shockandawe"

Is a Wildheart follow-up in sight?

Two years and change since his third studio album, Miguel appears to be readying his next full-length project. A few weeks back, the new single "Skywalker" debuted on HBO's Insecure. And now, another has made way.

Dipping back into his rock roots (on full display a la Wildheart) the new track "Shockandawe," like its predecessor, has familiar notes to it. Where "Skywalker" wasof the "Black Beatles" sort (too big to fail hook, minimal guitar work and a cool, confident feel,) its follow-through has a touch more of the singer's indie spirit. Here he's tapping into the same (other)worldly sounds as Tyler The Creator on "I Ain't Got Time," built around a Grecian Knights sample that's been employed by both J Dilla and Deee-Lite. In this case, it's not a direct quote, but a nod to the feel of the track.
