“Lockdown” is a powerful new single from rapper and singer Anderson .Paak.

Anderson .Paak is celebrating Juneteenth by releasing a new song and video.

The song is called “Lockdown” and it features the rapper and singer reflecting on the global protests and social unrests that have been happening ever since George Floyd was killed on camera by Minneapolis police.

Killed a man in broad day, might never see a trial, We just wanna break chains like slaves in the South,” Anderson .Paak raps on the track, which was produced by J.LBS and .Paak himself. The single cover is powerful: it features a list of people that were killed due to police brutality.

The Dave Meyers video is equally striking. It features appearances from Syd, Jay Rock, Andra Day, Dominic Fike, and more. In the video, we see .Paak and his crew reflecting on a protest they just attended. .Paak has scraps and scratches on his head, indicating that there was an altercation. (It should be noted that .Paak has been protesting in real life also.)

At the end of the video .Paak announces that his organization, .Paak House, has donated to multiple social justice organizations. Also, the staff that worked on the video donated their salary to Dream Defenders, which is pretty cool.

This is the first piece of new music from Anderson .Paak since he released his Ventura album last year. That project was .Paak’s first top ten album of his career.
