Long Island, NY vocalist Torii Wolf makes a very strong first impression with her debut single, the DJ Premier produced track “1st.” You’d be foolish to look at Preemo as purely a hip-hop producer with work spanning from his Grammy award contributions for Christina Aguilera and more recent work with Yuna. He takes things a step forward with Torii Wolf, as she will be the first female artist to have a full project produced by Preemo. Today we get a glimpse of what’s to come with the video for “1st.” Premier doesn’t disappoint with the production (laced with a Dilated Peoples sample) as Torri tells a tale of unrequited love. Says Preemo of working with Torii:

Torii has such a weird, wicked style… It’s just very left field—reminiscent of a Bjork or something like that. She is so unique and versatile; she writes, sings and is an accomplished guitarist and drummer.  But image-wise, there is no comparison. Subject-wise, Torii is in a whole different place.
