Snoop Dogg's Uncle JuneBug Passes At The Age Of 70

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

In what has already been a heavy week of mourning in the community, Snoop Dogg's Uncle JuneBug lost his bout with cancer Sunday morning at the age of 70, having lived a full week longer than the day he was given last week. A formidable compliment to Snoop's live show and influence in the toker's life --having babysat him when Snoop was just a pup--will be bitterly missed for his wild stage antics, often spotted dancing about in a cartoonish shuffle, assisting his nephew in working the crowd. Another sad loss during a week of remembrance for the likes of Marvin Gaye (dead 30 years ago today) and Gil Scott-Heron (who would have turned 65 today.) Join us in a not-so-silent vigil to commemorate the legacy of funk's fallen soldiers, as next month's Roots Picnic will be sure to keep the love spinning with a set from Snoop with The Roots as his backing band. Peep a clip of the G-ed out uncle strutting his stuff below. Rest in funk, JuneBug.
