Ric Wilson Makes His Own Waves With New Chuck D-Approved Single "Hang Loose" [Premiere]

When Chuck D says listen, we tend to heed the call. In today's case, we already knew the Public Enemy legend was onto something. Chicago vocalist, Ric Wilson, is no stranger to these pages. His debut single "You Need Me" arrived in late 2015, and ever since, we've been able to rely on the limber rapper and singer to bring a buoyant edge to hip-hop and r&b. His latest single continues to deliver and arrives with a foreword from Uncle Chuck.

"Hang Loose" is precisely the jolt we've come to expect from Wilson; an energetic cut that melds hip-hop's breakbeat past and four-to-the-floor present with a groove equally fit for Bronx BBQs ca. 1981 and or Ibiza beach-fronts thirty some-odd years down the line. The song provides yet another taste of Wilson's forthcoming project, Negrow Disco, a follow-up to his 2016 EP, Soul Bounce.

Hear the latest from Ric Wilson down below and if you happen to find yourself in The Windy City next week, catch him live and direct at Lincoln Hall next Saturday, April 15th. Tickets are on-sale now. Stay tuned for his next transmission and hit his Soundcloud page for extended listening.
