Pro Era's Kirk Knight Releases Expansive Sample Pack
Pro Era producer Kirk Knight has released his debut sample pack, which features a number of beats that have appeared on projects from Joey Bada$$ and other members from the Pro Era group.
The pack includes over 100 samples of drums and percussion, which you can get a taste of in a preview clip below.
"This is the first drumkit I ever made. Now felt like the right time so that I could give to all the people who are fans of the sound that I help create for Pro Era," Knight said in a statement with the release.
The pack is available through subscription cloud-based platform Splice,
Prior to the release Knight had done a reworking of Desiigner's "Timmy Turner," which found the producer putting a more atmospheric touch on the standout track from the fellow Brooklynite. He also released a track with A$AP Ferg titled "Setup." The track, which was released in honor of the 2017 edition of Yams Day that recently occurred, finds the two rapping over a menacing beat produced by Knight himself.
Pro Era were one of the many guests present for Yams Day, which also featured Kendrick Lamar, Lil Uzi Vert, Danny Brown, Cam'ron, T-Pain, Playboi Carti, and a special appearance from Tyler, the Creator.
Knight's last full length release was back in 2015, when he released his debut album Late Knight Special. The 12 track project found Knight serving as both producer and rapper, joined by fellow Pro Era members such as Bada$$, as well as other guests including Mick Jenkins, Noname, The Mind and Thundercat.
In other news of sample packs that have hit the internet lately, Autodafe recently released an archive of 150 rare vintage drum machines for free (although you can make a donation). The 200MB catalog of samples features snares, kicks and hi-hats from Korg, Casio and Roland.
