The Seahawks football player is planning on suing the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.

Speaking to Nightline, Bennett's attorney John Burris said that a lawsuit against the police department was likely coming. The news comes a couple weeks after Bennett took to his Twitter to recount an incident that took place between him and Las Vegas police after the Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor fight.

Bennett and others who had attended the fight were returning to their hotel rooms when they what sounded like gunshots nearby. The police then singled the athlete out, with one of the police officers proceeding to tell Bennett that he would "blow my f**king head off" if the football player moved.

"All I could think of was 'I'm going to die for no other reason than I am black and my skin color is somehow a threat,'" Bennett recounted. "My life flashed before my eyes as I thought of my girls. Would I ever play with them again? Or watch them have kids? Or be able to kiss my wife again and tell her I love her?"

Following the release of the account, a union representing the Las Vegas Metro Police Department requested the NFL investigate Bennett, saying his comments were "false and defamatory."

However, the NFL sent out a short response to the letter, with the statement saying "There is no allegation of a violation of the league’s personal conduct policy and therefore there is no basis for an NFL investigation."
