Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Erykah Badu & More: Here’s the Best 2023 Met Gala Looks

Our favorite celebs stunned during the 2023 Met Gala, themed "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty."

Celebrities brought the heat during fashion’s biggest night out. On Monday night (May 1), the 2023 Met Gala, themed "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," was held at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, and some of the best in music, film, sports and fashion attended the prestigious event.

Making their debut at the event was “Need to Know” artist Doja Cat, who hilariously replicated Lagerfeld’s iconic cat, Choupette. Rocking a bedazzled and hooded Oscar de la Renta gown, the Grammy-winner also wore prosthetics on her face to appear more like the Birman feline.

In interviews at the event, Doja maintained the kitten antics, responding “meow” during quick chats with Lala Anthony and Emma Chamberlain.

Skipping the carpet to head straight into the museum was Kendrick Lamar, who wore Chanel and an MLB hat to celebrate his recent win for highest-grossing rap tour of all time.

Also making their Met Gala introduction was Caresha “Yung Miami” Brownlee  of the City Girls, styled by The Hype co-judge Marni Senofonte. The rapper and Caresha Please host attended the event with “best friend” Diddy, who appeared flustered when questioned about their relationship status by Anthony for Vogue. Diddy also wore Sean John in collaboration with June Ambrose and reflected on his brief partnership with Lagerfeld.

“I got a chance to spend time with Karl [Lagerfeld] when I was designing Sean John, just as a fellow designer. And he was so creative, and he had so much attention to detail,” Diddy told Anthony.

Adding character to the event was Lil Nas X in a full-body crystalized look by Pat McGrath and Dior Men, while Janelle Monáe turned heads for wearing a sequin bikini underneath a hoop skirt and Thom Browne ensemble. In 2011, Monáe attended her first Met Gala with Lagerfeld as a date.

Also wearing some of the most stunning looks of the night were Brian Tyree Henry, Cardi B (who had multiple outfit changes), Halle Bailey, Tems and Erykah Badu, the latter who wore a beaded dress in collaboration with Marni designer Francesco Risso. This year, the legendary vocalist will release her Marni collection.

Never late, but always on time were “Fashion Killas” and new parents Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, who both homage Lagerfeld in their own way. While Rocky wore a skirt resembling Lagerfeld’s December 2004 look on the Chanel runway in Tokyo, Rihanna left the Carlyle Hotel in an archival 1997 Fendi fur coat. At the Met Gala, the “Lift Me Up” singer emerged in a custom white Valentino Haute Couture dress with a petaled cape and train, with a drop waist to reveal her growing baby bump.
