Queen of hip-hop soul Mary J. Blige is busy filming Black Nativity in New York City. The cinematic adaptation of the Langston Hughes gospel musical retelling of the biblical story of the nativity is an updated version of the piece that finds Blige playing the role of an angel named Platinum Fro. The narrative follows a young teen named Langston, who embarks on a coming of age journey in a family friendly tale of divine intervention and forgiveness. The film also stars Forrest Whitaker, Angela Bassett, Jennifer Hudson, Tyrese, Luke James and Jacob Lattimore as Langston. Original score provided by Raphael Saadiq.
