Lorde Curates 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay' OST, Drops New Single "Yellow Flicker Beat"

Lorde drops off a brooding new sonic from the forthcoming Hunger Games: Mockingjay with the release of "Yellow Flicker Beat." It's the first we've heard or seen from the spell-binding New Zealand bred singer since her blazing performance of "Tennis Courts" at The Billboard Awards a few months back. The anti-pop star delivers her patented raspy call over a more lush production than we're used to from the devout sonic minimalist, bumping big, bold stadium snares and kicks and a haunting bed of synthesizer work that recall old scores for Terry Gilliam films like Brazil or Twelve Monkeys, with a bit less of a dystopian feel.

The still adolescent Kiwi legend is contributing more than just a single cut to the blockbuster series' soundtrack, as she's apparently landed the gig of curating the score entirely, putting on her best Henry Mancini. The film drops November 21st on anxious public, while the soundtrack should be available to purchase any day now. Be sure to keep it locked as we'll have that link for you as soon as it drops, but in the meantime, get acquainted with Lorde's latest cut "Yellow Flicker Beat" below.
