Lauryn Hill - "Neurotic Society" (Compulsory Mix)

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Lauryn Hill made headlines again this weekend - not for her legal troubles, but for her latest track. Yes, you read correctly. Ms. Hill dropped "Neurotic Society" following the death of former label-mate and Kris Kross star, Chris Kelly. The bpm of the inter-stellar track might not be enough for her tightly packed bars, but few will deny that the voice riding the beat is one they have been longing to hear. L-Boogie comes down for a little conversation about the ills of the industry and a cold world that kills softly and runs savagely. Lauryn attached the song to her Tumblr page on Sunday with a note explaining the sudden release and the meaning behind it:

Hello All:

Here is a link to a piece that I was ‘required’ to release immediately, by virtue of the impending legal deadline. I love being able to reach people directly, but in an ideal scenario, I would not have to rush the release of new music… but the message is still there. In light of Wednesday’s tragic loss (of former label mate Chris Kelly), I am even more pressed to YELL this to a multitude that may not understand the cost of allowing today’s unhealthy paradigms to remain unchecked!
