As pointed out by Highsnobiety, during an Instagram Live on May 23, Abstract addressed the allegations while also revealing that the group is considering postponing the release of their upcoming album PUPPY.
"I don't agree with anything Ameer has admitted to, and I've talked with him about that. He's been getting help for, like, over the past year," he said before continuing:
"Something else I wanna say is...we're probably...we're probably gonna push the album back, but I still want a single to come out next month. And having to deal with, like, family problems in front of the world is very difficult. And I'm sorry if, like, if this isn't enough. Anyways, this is really awkward."
"It's heavy. And I also understand if you're mad and, like, completely over it because, like, I shoulda said something. I shouldn't have been quiet for so long."
Later on in the Instagram Live, he spoke on the accusations again.
"And I also didn't feel comfortable going into tour without addressing this because I know that, like, the BROCKHAMPTON concert is the one place where people feel like, you know, they fit in there if they don't fit in at school or with their families, or whatever," he said. "And it really— it just fucking hurts and sucks."
"I just want people to know that, like, I've never...seen Ameer hurt anyone. And I also want people to know that we hold each other accountable for anything, any mistake," Abstract added.
The allegations against Vann sprung up a week ago when a woman called the 22-year-old rapper "a predator and cheater" in a statement on Twitter. She wrote, "he also degrades women, makes forceful advances and does not ease up when asked, is emotionally abusive, uses girl, v manipulative, has sex with underage/legal fans."
Another woman, singer-songwriter Rhett Rowan, said she was previously in a relationship with Vann and that he is "emotionally manipulative and mentally abusive," as well as accused him of having sexual relations with a minor and "abusing women."
