Danny Maloneis an Austin, Texas singer songwriter who's sound was pitched to as "If Beck-era “Sea Change” was actually written by Kevin Devine while he was high as hell and listening to a lot of Fiona Apple." Though his output is not exactly in the Okayplayer lane, he is definitely somebody we've been checking for--and now we have a good excuse to post on him; while his original music is beautifully crafted indie-pop, he has decided to switch things up a bit and cover Frank Ocean's "Thinkin Bout You." With a voice sounding like a more soulful Daniel Johnston, his version of the track retains the power of the original yet with a more relaxed and raw vibe. He and his band seem to be lost in the music in this performance.
