Comedy Central Puts a Date on 'South Park' and 'Broad City' Return

Comedy Central Announces Release Date For New Seasons of 'South Park' and 'Broad City'

As the weight of our spray-tanned executive continues to bear down on the collective consciousness of an entire planet, Comedy Central is doing what it can to defend, or more realistically, distract you from imminent doom. Today, the network has announced the return of its animated pillar, South Park, and its more recent breakout, Broad City. According to TVLine, both shows will premiere this summer on Wednesday, August 23rd.

For Trey Parker and Matt Stone's brainchild(ren,) it will mark the 21st season of their beloved and often controversial series. The prior season caught the brunt of the internet's vitriol in the wake of Election Day for being "too soft" on president-elect and not parodying him explicitly. To critics, Parker put it simply: "We were like, fuck him, we don’t want to give him the satisfaction.” Comedy Central has extended their contract with Parker and Stone, ensuring 23 seasons from the duo that would keep them on the air until at least 2019.

Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer's Broad City is entering its fourth season on the network, following a critically-adored third. Last month they released a 420 short that found the duo successfully passing a bowl in a Skyped-in session. Watch that below.
