Check Out Blu & Exile's "Roots of Blue" Featuring Jacinto Rhines

Blu and Exile's Miles album arrives on July 17th.

On Wednesday, Los Angeles' underground legend Blu teamed up with longtime collaborator Exile to release the first offering from an upcoming project. Blue teams up with Exile for the new album, Miles: From an Interlude Called Life.

Stream the first single, "Roots of Blue," featuring Jacinto Rhines, above. The track is a nine-minute exploration of the "ancestral tree, from political leaders to cultural and music icons that helped shape Blue to who he is today."

The Miles project will feature appearances from Miguel, Aloe Blacc, The Last Artful, Dodgr, Aceyalone, Iman Omari, Fashawn, and more. The album is the critically-acclaimed duo's first project together since their 2019 EP True & Livin. Previously, the two released In the Beginning: Before the Heavens in 2017 and Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them in 2012.

"Roots of Blue" is one of the strongest songs on the album," Blu said in a statement. "On this song we took it back, all the way back. Back to the very first people who have walked this earth that have influenced my walk on this earth. Everyone except my immediate family. This song is my own personal family tree."

"Roots of Blue" is available for stream and purchase on Bandcamp and major digital streaming platforms. Miles is available for pre-order on triple vinyl LP for $34.99. The record is pressed on black vinyl. The pre-order package includes digital downloads of four tracks up front, plus the entire album upon its release.
